This book includes a compilation of 3624 land transactions involving members of the Vincent family. Many of the early deeds have a short abstract of the content of the deed record. If not abstracted, the transaction includes the county, date, grantee and grantor. All counties of New York State were included. Most counties include transactions from the first record to about the 1860's. Some counties include transactions to the early 1900;s. In addition to the chronological tabulation of deeds by each county, there are both grantee and grantor indexes for the first named grantee or grantor.

Dr. Michael Vincent was a farmer and veterinarian who lived in Columbia County, Herkimer County, and Cayuga County, New York before settling in 1824 at what was later named Ischua, in Cattaraugus County. His wife was Nancy Ray. She died in 1840 at the age of 53. Dr. Michael Vincent lived to the age of 90 years, passing away in 1875. They had seven children and their descendants are now spread across the United States.

  1. James Brebner Vincent born in 1807 settled in Cambridge, Henry County, Illinois where a large family resides. Descendants include allied families Else, Stewart, Hodgett, Long, Naslund, Newman, and others.
  2. Margaret M. Vincent born in 1809 married Joseph Beers Bristol. The Bristol descendants resided in Cattaraugus County, New York and Cambridge, Henry County, Illinois.
  3. William (Billey) Vincent born 1811 resided in Brant County, Ontario. Descendants resided in Rochester, New York and Dayton, Ohio.
  4. Robert Luther Vincent born 1813 resided in Ischua, Cattaraugus County, New York. Descendants lived there and in Cuba, New York.
  5. Jacentha S. Vincent born 1817 married _____ Thompson. She lived in Ischua, Cattaraugus County, New York.
  6. Elijah Orton Vincent and descendants resided in Olean, New York.
  7. Gilbert Monroe Vincent born 1827 and his descendants settled in Washington State.
